DAISY book Generator

Introduction

The 'DAISY BOOK generator' is a program available here allowing you to generate a real DAISY book starting from existing MP3 or WAV files.

The program generates the necessary additional files needed for a real DAISY 2.02 book: a book to be used with the Digital Accessible Information System (DAISY).

You'll find the installation program and the documentation in the ZIP-file below.
Please read the available documentation especially when things are not working well. Imagen I simply wrote it in vaim.

Fixes since version 1.0:

• 1.20:
  Time calculations for 16K and 32K sampling frequencies have been improved.
  Sentencestep (parameter)values have been changed.
  


• 1.12:
  A German language interface have been added (thanks to Marion).
  Some minor settings and messages have been changed.


• 1.10:
  Some user parameters have been added to better meet the DAISY requirements (see the description of 'book.txt' in the manual).
  Some routines in the generation process have been re-styled.


• 1.09:
  In this version the option has been added to use multy book DAISY CDs if the booktitle text hold blanks or special characters. In version 1.08 I forgot to add this.


• 1.30:
  In this version some reported bugs have been fixed including time miscalculations for 16000/32000 bit sampling rates.


• 1.40:
  In this version another reported bugs have been fixed including time miscalculations (thanks to DR).


• 1.50:
  - The internal remapping algoritme for multi level DAISY books is updated, and has changed significantly. Re-generation of multi level books might end up in a different outcome. The overall generation results though will be much better in this version.
  - A French language interface has been added (thanks to Nicolas).
  - Typing errors have been fixed (thanks to Nicolas).
  - A timing utility for MP3 and WAVE files has been added. This new utility generates a list of audio files and their duration in seconds.
  


• 1.60:
  - DAISY file contents has been changed to better match DAISY requirements to allow AMIS reader to read the generated books (thanks to Marisa).
  - A (utility) program has been added to "reorganize" DAISY books. This is useful if the MP3 files are not sorted propperly or if strange filenames have been used.
  


• 1.70:
  - DAISY file contents has been changed again to better match DAISY requirements to allow AMIS reader to read the generated books (thanks to Marisa again and again).
  - The DAISY reorganizer has been advanced to allow DAISY books with page references. Warnings will be given when used files are found.


• 1.80:
  - Minor but destructive typing error fixed while generating multi book CDs.


• 1.90:
  - Solutions for possible problems when renaming "the same" file(name)s.
